Dow facilities in Louisiana manufacture more than 100 basic and specialty chemicals that are shipped worldwide. These chemicals serve as building blocks for hundreds of everyday products. Although you might not find our "basic" chemical products on your store shelves, our chemistry can be found in soaps, detergents, food additives, cosmetics, shampoos and pharmaceuticals.

For example, two of the Louisiana sites manufacture millions of pounds of polyethylene plastic each year. These plastics are produced in the form of small pellets, which are sent to other manufacturers that make them into non-breakable bottles, computer and electronic components, automobile parts, disposable diapers, football helmets, CDs and CD players, adhesives, strengtheners for tires, athletic shoes, hoses, cables. . . and the list goes on and on.
